The entrance is still there, the corrugated sheeting can be seen going into the bank, but it's backfilled

Yes,i remember the tunnels.I knew nothing of them until a small hole appeared around the back of the barn. The ground on the track had become erroded away as we used to take allsorts of vehicles up and down there. One day one of the lads shone a torch in to see more and then it was "lets get digging! From what i can remember, the tunnels went in quite a distance with some branches in various directions.I,m not sure if we ever explored them fully. As to who filled the entrance in,i think it might have been TML,but at this stage we had been evicted from the farm workshops due to the building of the A20 extension.I think the entrance although well buried maybe somewhere between the boundry fence and the side of the A20 itself.I just wish we had all took more interest in the tunnels at the time.I dont think any of us took any photos.Back then it was just another adventure.

The tunnels were used by TML as a fire training facility. I heard it took them a while to find the entrances. I don't know if it was them who blocked the entrances, or the company that built the new A20. Strangelights should be able to help with this one as he spent a lot of time up there in the past.

My neighbour and his father had workshops up there from the '60's onward:Up until TML threw them off the land.  I know he's been in the dressing station as have half the population of Aycliffe, over a certain age.
Doesn't the land still belong to TML? They own the old farm where the workers village once was and hold the keys to the gates there.
