The photo below is an electric car designed & built for Major Lewis C Bearne DSO AM of the RASC ( driving) whilst serving at Cologne in 1922. It had a bank of batteries uner the bonnet and one charge would run it for about 40 miles at up to 15mph. 2 pedal control- left 1 push started it moving, next push mid speed and next push flat out, other pedal cut the motor and braked. held 3 people and a note on the back reads "often pushed home". The Kent connection? He is buried at Lympne churchyard having hived in Lympne after retiring


His son Sydney also served in the RASC and his widow clocks up 107 this week, still active and usually gets a sweatshirt and baseball cap from the Royal Logistic Corps as their oldest pensioner

Thats a cracking photo Pete, in the background is a Foden steam wagon with disinfecting drums on the back
