There's also a Blocked tunnel entrance by the footpath that goes from Borstal Road by the side of Clarence tower...i don't know where it would have gone to though. (might even be a magazine)
Above it there are the remains of a firestep,part of the steps that lead up to it have been demolished,the first step is about 6 feet ;D

so the tunnels go up to fort clarence itself, but not to the tower?

Hi, the doors you find in the ditch are for stores etc to be passed up from the river and into the safety of the tunnels under the fort itself.  The tower would have stood at the end of the ditch to protect it from invasion.

Hi all, does anyone have any info on the tunnels and underground guard house that are under the ditch in fort clarence, it went to the fort, but i also read that they used to go to the medway tower? Has anyone got any maps or anything / any info at all on these tunnels?
