Haywood Tyler & Co. hot air engine.  Half HP. 7 bore x 9 stroke.

At 120 RPM it will deliver 720 gallons of water per hour, it was originally installed in a brewery at Wateringbury in 1898.

It was good to see you down there today, and it meant I could put off my jobs for a little while :)

Is anyone coming down tomorrow?  We are open from 11-3!

It was nice to meet you finally :)

Yes storm water still fills the tank but takes some time before it is full enough to pump out so the stagnant water smells a bit when it is disturbed by the pumps.  Still it is good to see it all work :)

Had a nice little visit there this morning :)

It's a lot smaller than I thought it would have been for some reason, but the pump engines do take up a decent 1/3rd of the ground floor space there, with displays filling the remainder and no public access to the lower areas.
Found out from Kyn that it's still an active pump house occasionally as well, which I would never have guessed, and that in the summer months one of the big pumps/engines is started up (Though its veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery smelly XD).

There are blueprints on display at the pumping station. Why not visit to have a look?

June - end of September - Saturday 11am - 3 pm
October - end of May - First Saturday of the month only 11 am - 3 pm

Just  quick Q..
Would anyone be able to provide a "blue print" of the place? I'm rather interested in this venue all of a sudden after I keep going past it on the way in to town :)

Certainly did. :-) Our thanks to you, KarlosTG and all the others who worked to make the event..
Thanks, it was good to see the place full of people again.

The Pumping Station will still be open every Saturday for the rest of September, then the first Saturday of the month over the winter. But if you want to see the engine running make sure you visit in the next 3 weeks as it becomes harder to start in the cold (its diesel and no pre-heating)
