News: The modern name of Kent is derived from the Brythonic word kantos meaning "rim" or "border", or possibly from a homonymous word kanto "horn, hook"

Tours are now running again on the last Friday of every month at 19.30 by Thames Defence Heritage.
Places can be booked through Towncentric in Gravesend.

Should a group of KHF members be interested in a private tour let me know and I can sort something out.

On the 4th picture of Merc's post there is a wooden box with a microphone and headset on the tight. I used to have one of those kits and never knew what it was for as the wiring diagram had been torn out. And now I do!  :)

It was great for electronics' projects though.

I looked in there yesterday. In the R.O.C room was a gent who had been the NCO at a monitoring post at Swanscombe and was then moved to Hoo. He was showing the trace of the burst tracker. In exercises they used the Sun! Although built in 1954 the bunker looked very WW2 ! Reminded me of the Cabinet War rooms.

Some pics from todays Open Day. It's well worth having a look inside if you get the chance.

Many thanks to the volunteers there, they were most helpful :)
