I think Popes moved to that site from Canterbury Street. I can remember having my photo taken there in 1960 with my little brother.

Yes, there used to be a photo studio on the back you could hire along with a model register. Used it once probably in the early 80s

Popes the Photographer..

When I first started coming to Gillingham, there was a Photographer and studio where the Salvation Army shop is now.
He retired many years ago, However the last I heard Mr Pope is alive and well and living down here in Lower Gillingham still.
